WHAT WE BELIEVE
Jesus the Son of God
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God. St. John 3:16 tells us that God gave
His only Begotten Son. Jesus asked His disciples “Who do men say that I the Son of man am?”
(Matthew 16:13) They began to give Him answers about what others say. “He saith unto them, But
whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son
of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon
Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in
heaven. (Matthew 16:15-17)
“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the
prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of
all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the
express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had
by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Being made so
much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than
they.” (Heb. 1:1-4)
The bible tells us “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that
believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave
of his Son.” (I John. 5:10) “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ?
He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.” (I John. 2:22)
Water Baptism in Jesus Name/Gift of the Holy Ghost
We believe in the water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ and receiving the gift of the
Holy Ghost. “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of
water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (Acts 1:5)
“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus,
whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked
in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what
shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the
name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many
as the LORD our God shall call.” (Acts 2:36-39) “And I knew him not: but he that sent me to
baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending,
and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.” (John. 1:33)
“Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy
Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.
Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.” (Acts 10:47- 48)
”He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said
unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said
unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then
said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that
they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When
they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid
his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and
prophesied.” (Acts 19:2-6)
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the
uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
